BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

I implore all clients to have a full meal beforehand and stay very hydrated. Cut out all alcohol and blood thinning meds like ibuprofen 24-48 hours pre appointment as to not bleed excessively during the service. A shower is helpful to smell nice and remove any dead skin buildup.

Thoroughly hydrate and moisturize the area you want tattooed everyday for at least a week before your appointment.

Please disclose the use of numbing cream well beforehand.

Wear proper clothing to allow easy access to the tattoo site. If unsure on what to wear, feel free to ask me.

Leave any bad vibes at home! I like to keep a calm and inviting atmosphere at all times c:

YOU SHOULD KNOW

My intention for every tattoo session is a calm, organized, and memorable experience for those who choose to book with me!

We can talk about anything and everything, or sit in the comfort of eachother’s silence.

It’s a safe space with me and I encourage advocating for yourself if you feel like something is not right— I’ll never get upset with you for altering a design or changing the placement.

My goal is to give you a tattoo with a positive memory attached to it!

    Aftercare

After getting tattooed, we will discuss aftercare. Whether its Saniderm or open air, aftercare is important!

    SANIDERM ↓

Saniderm is a waterproof, breathable bandage applied after a tattoo. With this route of aftercare, these steps should be followed to ensure a smooth and safe recovery.

Saniderm is intended to be left on for 5-7 days post session. Depending on what we do, I may advise you to change it to a fresh piece the following day, which from that point, the 5-7 days is incited.

No pools, baths, hot tubs, saunas or exercising with saniderm. If your tattoo becomes exposed, starts leaking, or starts having an allergic reaction to it, remove immediately and start aftercare.

It is recommended to remove in the shower, soaking it under warm water for 10 minutes to loosen the adhesive. Lift an edge, and slowly remove the bandage, pulling downward as opposed to outward.

After removing, continue to the next steps.

    GENERAL AFTERCARE ↓

Thoroughly wash your hands to rid them of potentially harmful contaminants.

Lather a non-scented, antibacterial soap with your hands and gently cleanse your tattoo. Avoid using anything abrasive like a washcloth or paper towel.

Pat dry with a clean towel, and follow up with a non-scented moisturizer. Avoid anything with a petroleum base like vaseline or aquaphor. Products like these sit on top of the tattoo, and attract debris, hair, and other unwanted contaminants.

Repeat this routine 2-3 times daily, or as needed. In about 2 weeks post appointment, your tattoo should be flush to your skin and all healed up!

    Healing Process

The tattoo healing process can look different for everyone. The style, size, and even placement of a tattoo can determine how long or short your healing process is. Heres the most common progression you may experience.

Days 0-2: Swelling and irritation will be at their highest at this point. During this time your body is going to try to expel the tattoo ink and heal your skin. This will look like excess ink flow and plasma from the procedure site.

Days 3-7: Swelling should be low and your body will start to close the open wound. Around this time, excess leaking will be done. You may also start to feel itchy.

Days 7 and on: As you start aftercare, your skin cells start to turn over and cause the damaged tattoo skin to peel. This is completely normal! Your tattoo may also be very itchy during this time. It’s important to not pick off or scratch at your tattoo. Over the course of the next week or two of consistent aftercare, your tattoo should be done peeling and flush to your skin.

Post Heal: The new skin under your tattoo is essentially baby fresh skin and will have a shiny look to it. This is referred to as ‘onion skin’ and will return to normal within 3-4 months. You may now return to scented products and activities!
