client guide

Please read this guide thoroughly prior to your appointment, especially if you are a new client. This includes pre and post tattoo information as well as my policies.

before your appointment

I implore all clients to have a full meal beforehand and be very hydrated. Cut out all alcohol 24-48 hours pre appointment as to not bleed excessively during the service. Please thoroughly hydrate and moisturize the area you want tattooed the week of your appointment!

Healing Process

The tattoo healing process can look different for everyone. The style, size, and placement of a tattoo can determine how long or how short your healing process is. Heres the most common you may have though.

Days 0-2: Swelling and irritation may be at their highest at this point. During this time your body is going to try to expel the tattoo ink and heal your skin. This will look like excess ink flow and plasma under your Saniderm.

Days 3-7: Swelling should be low and your body will start to close the open wound. Around this time, excess leaking will be done. You may start to feel itchy.

Days 7 and on: As you start aftercare, your skin cells start to turn over and cause the damaged tattoo skin to peel. This is completely normal! Your tattoo may also be very itchy during this time. It’s important to not pick off or scratch at your tattoo. Over the course of the next few days to week of consistent aftercare, your tattoo should be done peeling and flush to your skin.

Post Heal: The new skin under your tattoo is essentially baby fresh skin and will have a shiny look to it. This is referred to as ‘onion skin’ and will return to normal within 3-4 months.

after care

Saniderm is a waterproof, breathable bandage applied after a tattoo. However, these steps should be followed to ensure a smooth and safe recovery.

No pools, baths, hot tubs, saunas or exercising with saniderm. If your tattoo becomes exposed, starts leaking, or you are having an allergic reaction to it, remove immediately and start aftercare.

Everyday you should:

Wash your tattoo with non-scented antibacterial hand soap and clean hands

Pat dry with a clean towel

Follow up with a non-scented lotion

Repeat 2-3 times daily and moisturize as needed throughout the day

All clients receive a physical aftercare card with more information if needed
